Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create a squad?
Navigate to the Squads tab, tap the "+" button, enter your squad name and details, and invite friends via their username or email. You can customise squad settings including visibility and member permissions.
How do I earn points?
Points are earned by checking in to activities, completing challenges, and participating in squad events. Each activity has a point value and you must be within the designated location to successfully check in.
Why can't I check in to an activity?
Ensure you're within the activity's location radius, have location services enabled, and the activity is currently active. Check-ins may also be restricted by time windows set by the activity creator.
Can I join multiple squads?
Yes. You can join multiple squads and participate in activities across all of them. Set a favourite squad in your profile settings for quick access.
How do I leave a squad?
Go to the squad page, tap the settings icon, and select "Leave Squad." Leaving a squad removes your access to its activities and chat history.
How do leaderboards work?
Leaderboards rank squads based on points earned within specific time periods. There are weekly, monthly, and all-time rankings. Points reset at the beginning of each period. Squads must have 3 or more members to appear.
Can I change my username?
Yes. Go to Settings → Profile → Edit Username. Usernames must be unique and follow our community guidelines.
Is my location data secure?
Yes. Location data is only collected when you actively use location features — it is never tracked in the background. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Troubleshooting

App crashes or won't open
Force close the app and restart it
Ensure you have the latest version from the App Store
Restart your device
Check for iOS updates in Settings → General → Software Update
Reinstall the app if the issue persists
Location not working
Important: Location services must be enabled for check-ins and activity creation. Precise location is required for accurate GPS verification.

Find ForFriendSake and set to "While Using the App" or "Always"

Enable Precise Location for accurate check-ins

Try toggling Airplane Mode on and off to refresh GPS
Push notifications not arriving
Go to Settings → Notifications → ForFriendSake and ensure "Allow Notifications" is on
Check notification settings within the app
Verify Do Not Disturb or Focus mode is not active
Log out and back in to refresh your notification token
Login or authentication problems
Verify your email address or phone number is correct
Check for verification emails — including your spam folder
Use "Forgot Password" to reset your password
Ensure you have a stable internet connection
Clear app cache or reinstall if issues persist
Data not loading or syncing
Check your internet connection (Wi-Fi or cellular)
Pull down to refresh on list screens
Log out and back in to force a sync
Check if other apps can access the internet

Known Issues

We're actively working on the following — fixes are coming in future releases:

Occasional delay in leaderboard updates — refreshes within 5 minutes
Map pins may cluster at high zoom levels
Push notifications may arrive with slight delay during peak hours
